History & Background

Kuanzhai Alley (Wide and Narrow Alleys) consists of three parallel alleys with Qing dynasty courtyard homes. Originally built in the 1700s for Manchu bannermen stationed in Chengdu, the area was renovated in 2008 and transformed into a cultural and commercial district. The alleys preserve traditional Sichuan architecture while housing trendy cafes, bars, boutiques, and restaurants.
