History & Background

Dazhao Temple, built in 1579 during the Ming dynasty, is the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Hohhot. The temple houses a 3-meter-tall silver Buddha statue, the largest of its kind in China. The complex features traditional Chinese architecture with Tibetan Buddhist elements, including intricate murals and thangkas.
