History & Background

The Great Wall at Mutianyu was built in the mid-6th century during the Northern Qi dynasty and rebuilt during the Ming dynasty under General Xu Da. This section served as a critical northern barrier protecting Beijing from nomadic invasions. The wall stretches 2.25 km with 22 watchtowers, showcasing remarkable Ming dynasty military architecture.
